Midwife Project

It was 2012 and the forgotten village of Kagoma Gate had no access to health care. The Giving Circle Africa team knew a midwife from the local community who was willing and able to serve their needs. However, there were no funds to support her salary or supplies. So, the leaders of TGCA partnered with Hope Neikirk RN and Caren Baker CNM and thanks to their efforts and generous donors “The Midwife Project” was born.

The villagers grew to trust midwife Elizabeth Alikoba and they soon benefitted from her expertise and care. Thanks to Soroptimists of Saratoga, a clinic at Kagoma Gate was established and villagers near and far came to receive care.

In 2019 we grew to serve the village of Mutai thanks to the building of the Mitzen Clinic by the Mitzen family. Now these villagers have their first access to local health care.

The populations and needs of these communities have grown so the funds need to grow as well. Despite the government’s failure to help we will continue our work. Knowing that we are needed and making a difference in the lives of so many families keeps us going. You can support these efforts and join our mission with a one time donation or by becoming a valuable Sustaining Donor.
